The Cheng Quartet returns to the Grachtenfestival! This young, renowned quartet will play at the Waalse Kerk the beautiful 'Langsamer Satz' by Webern, inspired by a mountain hike which Webern made with his wife during a holiday in the mountains of Austria. The gracefull and humerous Shostakovich' 'Two Pieces for String Quartet' from 1931 will also be part of this concert. Finally, Borodin's second String Quartet is on the program, dedicated to his wife Ekaterina. When Borodin wrote this piece, he had in mind that he played the cello part and his beloved Ekaterina the first violin part; a true musical love letter.
