In her latest production, a contemporary make-over of Mozart's masterpiece Cosi fan tutte, Lotte de Beer is once again showing her fabulous directing skills. The German media were very impressed and praised her 'extraordinarily brilliant staging'.
This make-over version of Cosi fan tutte, which lasts for three hours, is about a clown with a broken heart whose numerous attempts to commit suicide fail in clownish ways. Eventually he sheds his clown attributes, his red nose and his floppy shoes: he is a fallen clown now, a cynical man - Don Alphonso - whose bitterness destroys the naïve happiness of two sets of young lovers.
Not suitable for people with coulrophobia.
