Choreographer Lonneke van Leth performed at the Grachtenfestival in 2011 with the pilot of her interpretation of Swan Lake in the Kromhouthal. Lonneke is returning this year with the impressive and multi-faceted production De Odyssee. Together with artist Vincent de Kookerde, she developed a dance production about the Greek hero Ulysses, who roamed the seas for ten years after the Trojan War ended. The various storylines are told through dance, images and music. The new musical pieces are by the composer Maxim Shalygin and performed by the musicians from Asko|Schönberg, the Rosa Ensemble, the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague and Codart Rotterdam. The conductor of the ensemble is Michael de Roo.
This special concert has up to 100 participants: modern dancers, choir singers, acrobats and musicians. For this production, Lonneke van Leth has worked with professionals and amateurs.
