Composers’ floating dinner
Join the Grachtenfestival as we celebrate the 400th anniversary of Amsterdam’s canals on Keizersgracht, between Utrechtsestraat and Reguliersgracht, where two 80-metre long tables will be set up on a pontoon in the canal from Saturday 17 through Saturday 24 August. Sit down to a delicious three-course meal while enjoying new compositions by David Dramm, Vincent van Warmerdam, Harry de Wit and others. Inspired by the spectrum of our daily auditory experience, they sound off a ‘rebellion’ against the noise culture of today, in compositions performed by wind instruments, percussionists, singers and even diners! With everyone ‘pitching in’, we’re sure to achieve our aim of symphonic perfection. A sonnet by the poet K. Schippers brings the programme to a close.
