The Dutch Concert Big Band is all about music from Los Angeles! The big band scene in LA has its origins in the entertainment industry; jazz composers en arrangers from the fifties and sixties were in high demand for movie soundtracks. These composers and arrangers started to write their own music and form their own bands. This kind of big band music was entirely different from the progressive big band music in New York. The emphasis was on performance (tone and timing) of the pieces and a high entertainment value.
The Dutch Concert Big Band brings you closer to the big bands of LA with a variety of wonderful historical pieces from the sixties and seventies by a.o. Stan Kenton, Bill Holman and Bob Florence. Contemporary work by by a.o.Bob Mintzer, Vince Mendoza and Jacob Mann will also be performed.
De concerten op het ponton worden mede mogelijk gemaakt door Waternet.
