Music has no limits and no boundaries. The Intercontinental Ensemble takes you to France, Czech Republic, Italy, and Spain.
This nine-member ensemble performs works such as the nonet of female composer Louise Farrenc. It was a huge success and she was consequently appointed as the first female instructor at the conservatory of Paris – a true feminist in a male bastion. Bohuslav Martinu wrote with his nonet as a musical tribute to his homeland, that he left at the beginning of World War II to never return. With his work, he bridges the geographical boundaries with his beloved Czech Republic. And Nino Rota from Italy, famous for his scores for ‘The Godfather’ and ‘La Strada, skilfully bridged the popular genre of film music with classic operas and an enchanting nonet.
