The Dutch Concert Big Band, the youngest professional big band of The Netherlands, offers a swinging program on the pontoon in front of Hotel De L'Europe. An eclectic gang of talented jazz musicians, trained and schooled on the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Kevin van der Elzen (22), drummer and bandleader, investigated the great big bands in history, and struck gold with the rich repertoire of great Dutch composers. He was smitten by the original sounds of many pieces and decided to play tribute to Dutch masters of jazz: the Dutch Originals Project. Some of these works haven't been played for thirty years, but the music is still contemporary and swinging.
The young big band will be accompanied by the equally young soloist Maarten Hogenhuis, saxophone, and Rik Mol, trumpet.
