In the Meesterlijk! series, the Grachtenfestival Amsterdam pairs young masters with seasoned older colleagues. Opening the series are soprano Judith van Wanroij and pianist Willem Brons. The highly praised Van Wanroij can be seen on stages around the world, performing in song recitals and singing great opera roles. In recent years, she’s made French baroque music one of her specialities.
In 2010, she won the GrachtenfestivalPrijs, adding to the festival’s pride at having her as part of this special series! Willem Brons debuted in 1963 in the Kleine Zaal at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and has established himself since then as a notably versatile musician who’s still extremely active today. He has long toured with Schubert’s sonatas, now part of his steady repertoire. Brons is regarded as one of the most important contemporary interpreters of Schubert. At 76, this venerable master is a true keyboard phenomenon. A wonderful song recital by two of the greats, featuring works by Samuel Barber, Edvard Grieg, and of course Franz Schubert.
Dit concert wordt live uitgezonden op NPO Cultura.
