Melt Me Down (or The Campaign To Abolish Sonic Weapons) is an installation of composer Luke Deane. He is fascinated by sonic weapons and seeks attention for LRAD: Long Range Acoustic Device. An acoustic attaque by this controversial apparatus has far reaching effects for mankind and society. The installation can be observed and experienced at the Grachtenfestival on the roof of A'DAM Toren. Luke Deane and violinist Christine Cornwell will also bring the installation to life on 15, 16, 17, and 18 August with a few brief performances.
"These days sound pollution is everywhere, it's so hard to catch a break from the din. But even worse than this, the military and government are developing weapons that exploit and harm our most delicate senses, our ears. As a composer, who's entire life comes from sound and silence, I am compelled to protect your ears from harm. Let me show you your ears as the profoundly sensitive tools that they are and why we must actively work together to look after them." Luke Deane
