Improvisation, own compositions and compositions by the great names who inspired the band for this concert by the Mo van der Does Trio. With these elements as driving force this trio is on an adventure in Muziekkapel Durgerdam.
They trust each other unconditionally, these musicians, hence they are always challenging each other at taking risks. Improvisation is key, making every concert unique for them as well as for their audience. The small strength without harmony instrument enables an exciting interaction between freedom and the limitations of such strength. There are stories in the compositions of Van der Does which are told in mysterious ways. Some are clear, some are for the listener to decide what’s what. Worldly cities such as Amsterdam and New York, hiking trips throughout Scotland and the writer’s stress are in the soul of these stories. Direct as well as indirect musical inspiration for these compositions comes from several sources, such as jazz legends like Billy Strayhorn, contemporary jazz heroes like Ambrose Akinmusire and composers like Maurice Ravel.
