Classic meets jazz, folk, latin and flamenco! Het North Sea String Quartet was founded in 2016 by Pablo Rodríguez, Karin van Kooten, Yanna Pelser and Thomas van Geelen. After their first encounter it was abundantly clear: the four remarkable musicians will create great adventures. Besides their classical education they have other things in common: they recognised each other’s passion for a variety of styles with a starring role for improvisation in jazz, folk, latin and flamenco. Each of these musician brings his or her own musical luggage, equipping the quartet with its unique sound. The members of the quartet compose and arrange almost all of their music themselves. Moreover, there is always a lot of room for improvisation, resulting in different sounds, depending on time and place.
This concert will start in a snowy Turkey; listen to the splendid grooves, enchanting melodies and sweeping teamwork. At the end of this musical journey you end up with four string players on the Canary Islands, where you will be treated on a spectacular folk.
