Swinging into the night during this concert on the water with a very nice line-up.
Peter Beets & the Henk Meutgeert New Jazz Orchestra and Anna Serierse join forces with melodic playing, harmonic depth, surprising solo and interplay, improvisation and experiment. This 18-person big band, where experimentation and improvisation are paramount, brings a good dose of swing. The name givers - Peter Beets and Henk Meutgeert - will crown their many years of collaboration by offering a new generation of young jazz musicians a platform. Because there is close contact with various conservatories, top talent can be scouted immediately. With these young musicians under the leadership of these two highly experienced leaders, this new orchestra is a huge asset.
Anna Serierse (25) has been singing from a very young age. Because she comes from a musical nest, it is no surprise that she also wanted to go into music. She graduated summa cum laude at the Conservatory of Amsterdam in June 2017 and is now working on her EU-Jam master, where she can study in Copenhagen and Trondheim. Over the years she has played with many different bands and ensembles, like a front and side novel, such as her own quartet with Gijs Idema, the Martin Fondse Orchestra and Kika Sprangers Large Ensemble. She is inspired by Ella Fitzgerald and has a huge preference for big band music, but also has more modern influences such as Kenny Wheeler and Norma Winst.
