Bariton Raoul Steffani wants to draw attention to undeservedly unappreciated and unknown music from Clara Schumann. Clara was a nineteenth century feminist who presented herself als a female concert pianist, composed works, gave birth to eight children and was married to the very depressed Robert Schumann.
The heart of the program is the cyclus ‘Liebesfrühling op. 37', which was composed alternately by Robert and Clara Schumann, as well as wonderful songs by Clara and duets by Robert.
Raoul Steffani has won the Vakjuryprijs at the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours in 2015, and for this concert he brought along mezzo soprano Isabel Pfefferkorn and pianist Hans Adolfsen, both living in Zürich.
