Ensemble

The Dostoevsky Quartet is a promising string quartet that is praised for its energetic and inspired interplay. The quartet was founded in 2014 by the musicians Charlotte Basalo Vazquez, Julia Kleinsmann (violin), Lisa Eggen (viola) and Emma Kroon (cello). During the time that they were together, the Dostoevsky Quartet gave concerts in, among others, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, De Doelen, the Muziekgebouw aan het IJ and as part of various chamber music series throughout the Netherlands. They played at national and international festivals including the Grachtenfestival, International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht, Festival de quatuors à cordes and Pays de Fayence and the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam. They were also guests at AVRO Spiegelzaal, Opium op 4 and Podium Witteman. The quartet collaborated with, among others, the Doelen Quartet, Dudok Quartet and cellist Denis Brott.

The string quartet received lessons from Dmitri Ferschtman, Eberhard Feltz, Luc-Marie Aguera and Marc Danel, among others. From autumn 2016 they will study as a quartet at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Dutch String Quartet Academy. They also followed a two-year coaching program with the Danel Quartet set up in collaboration with TivoliVredenburg.

Charlotte, Julia, Lisa and Emma are all borrowers at the National Musical Instruments Fund.
