The POPARTSONG duo is an Amsterdam-based collaboration comprised of Canadian-Bulgarian mezzo-soprano Adanya Dunn and Irish pianist Seán Morgan-Rooney. Finalists of the Grachtenfestival 2020, the duo tours the Netherlands in the upcoming season. Seán and Adanya are real-life next door neighbours and first bonded over their eclectic musical tastes and late-night practice habits. POPARTSONG’s manifesto is to connect a wider musical audience through the consolidating power of popular music, approached from a classical art-music standpoint. Striving for intrinsic connections between styles rather than surface-level classical impositions, they mix their own compositions alongside repertoire from the traditional classical canon, integrating the essence of different kinds of popular music such as jazz, cabaret, folk and pop.

Irish pianist Seán Morgan-Rooney has performed with all major Irish orchestras, released his debut solo piano album in 2018, is a prize winner of the Dublin International Piano Competition, and was a finalist of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition. In October 2019, he gave his debut recital at the Kleine Zaal of Het Concertgebouw. He is currently a Dutch Classical Talent finalist for the 2020/21 season.

Mezzo-soprano Adanya Dunn appeared as one of Canada’s 2017 “Top 30 Hot Classical Musicians Under 30” (CBC). She has performed with the Bergen Symphony Orkest, the New European Ensemble, and in various concerts at the Dutch National Opera, Het Concertgebouw and Carnegie Hall. In the 2020/21 season, Adanya will perform an opening recital for a concert in the Muziekgebouw’s Grote Zangers Series.
