Takako Kunugi

Takako Kunugi was born in Saitama (Japan), in 1979. She began playing the bassoon when she entered high school. She attended the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, and after graduating, she started to play baroque bassoon. She was principal bassoon of the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra and also played with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the Bach Collegium Japan. After working with several orchestras, she moved to Amsterdam. Takako studied modern bassoon with Ronald Karten and baroque bassoon with Benny Aghassi at Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In 2011, she received a Masters diploma suma cum laude. In 2012, she received her Bachelor diploma of baroque bassoon. She plays historical bassoon with many European orchestras such as the Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht, Holland Baroque Society, Les Vents Atlantiques, Die Kölner Akademie and De Nederlandse Bachvereninging.
