Musici

Having originally planned to take a physics degree, Julien Hervé decided at the age of 21 to devote himself to music instead and worked with Pascal Moragués at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique (CNSM), Paris. An eclectic musician, he performs all kinds of music, from jazz to klezmer, Mozart to Stockhausen, and has created a patchwork musical life for himself, centred around the Rotterdam Philharmonic, for whom he has been principal clarinet since 2008, playing under such eminent conductors as Valery Gergiev, Sir Simon Rattle, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Robin Ticciati in the world’s finest concert halls. He is also a member of François-Xavier Roth’s Les Siècles orchestra and of the Ensemble Calliopée. He currently lives in The Netherlands and is studying jazz and conducting. Julien Hervé is a Buffet Crampon artist.
