Armando  Piña

Hailing from Mexico, in the summer of 2016 he made his Salzburg Festival debut as Lescaut in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut opposite Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov under the baton of maestro Marco Armiliato; an Album has been recorded and released by Deutsche Gramophon in December 2016.

Mr. Pina has done a second appearance at the Salzburg Festival as Luca di Beaumanoir in Nicolai’s Il Templario, in a great concert version of this wonderfull but rarely performed opera, leading star tenor Juan Diego Florez.

In the 2015/2016 season he debuted as Riccardo in Bellini’s I Puritani starring tenor Javier Camarena at  Bellas Artes Opera House in Mexico City.

This 2017,  Mr. Piña returned to Bellas Artes Opera House as Guglielmo in Cosi Fan Tutte. He also made  his house and role debut as Don Giovanni with Opera de Nuevo Leon, as well as Escamillo in Carmen with Teatro del Bicentenario in Leon, Mexico.

Mr. Piña´s Highlights include Marcello in La Boheme, Silvio in I Pagliacci, Giorgio Germont in La Traviata, Tomsky and Yeletzky in Pique Dame, Conte di Luna in Il Trovatore and others.

As a member of the Zürich Opera International Studio from 2010 to 2012, Mr. Pina has worked with acclaimed maestri Francisco Araiza and Bruno Pola and performed in multiple productions such as Il Barbiere di  Siviglia, Le Comte Ory, Rigoletto, Don Carlo, Janacek´s Aus einem Totenhaus, and others.

Mr. Pina is also a winner of Concurso Internacional de Canto de Sinaloa in 2014 and Carlo Morelli’s Bellas Artes Competition in Mexico City in 2009 and 2015. He is a 2016 Metropolitan Opera National Council Audition Washington District Winner.

As a graduated Artist at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, USA, Mr. Piña has been working with maestro Bill Schuman.

In may 2018 Armando Piña will make his Opera du Quebec debut as Escamillo in Carmen.
