Hazar Birkan was born in 1994 in Ankara,Turkey. She began her music education when she was five years old by taking piano and music theory lessons. In 2004 she was accepted to Bilkent University- Faculty of Music and Performing Arts with full scholarship and started her flute education with Stiliana Stavreva. She actively participated in masterclasses with Maurice Steger,Andras Adorjan, Maxence Larrieu,Gül?en Tatu, Emmanuel Pahud, James Galway, Davide Formisano, Peter Lukas Graf, Jean Michel Tanguy , P.Edmund Davies, Emily Beynon, Carlos Bruneel, Gaby Pas-van Riet, Robert Aitken, Carlo Jans and Kazutaka Shimizu. Hazar Birkan graduated from highschool of Bilkent University – Faculty of Music and Performing Arts with a degree of Best Student of the school Hazar Birkan gave her first recital in December 2006.In April 2008 she performed Mozart Concerto G-dur as a soloist with Bilkent Symphony Orchestra.In May 2007 she won the first prize in her age group in 10th International Competition for Young Musicians in Edirne, Turkey. In March 2009 she won first prize in her age group in International Competition for Young Virtuoses in Sofia- Bulgaria.In April 2013 , in International Flute Competition in Nederland, which 27 countries participated, she won first prize and also Flute Forum in Luxembourg as an additional prize. Since September 2012, she started to study at the Utrecht Conservatorium in the Netherlands with Prof. Aldo Baerten.
