Call for Works for Keuris Quartet

Call for Works for Keuris Quartet

Are you a composer between 10 and 35 years old? Do you live or study in the Netherlands? Would you like your music to be performed during the Grachtenfestival and Gaudeamus Muziekweek? Keep on reading!

Write for Keuris Quartet
The Grachtenfestival and Gaudeamus Muziekweek invite young composers to write music for the young and international saxophone quartet. Please submit a composition outline with a maximum of 1 minute. We would like to receive a score/PDF and a midi-file. A selection of the competing entries will be made in due course. Contenders will get the chance to work with Keuris Quartet at the Reading Sessions, where selected entries will be performed and judged.

And what’s next?
Does the quartet see potential in the excerpt? Do you get along well? Then there is a chance that you can complete your composition and have it premiered at the Grachtenfestival and during Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2017!

Keuris Quartet is an international saxophone quartet, specialized in the interpretation of contemporary music. After winning the First Prize at the 1st Strasbourg International Saxophone Quartet Competition in 2015, the quartet is seen as one of the most progressive saxophone quartets of its time. The members of the quartet are Evgeny Novikov (soprano saxophone), Stefan de Wijs (alto saxophone), Michal Grycko (tenor saxophone) en Juan Manuel Dominguez (baritone saxophone).

From classical crossover and minimal soundscapes to modern composition with (live) electronics, Gaudeamus Muziekweek presents the newest music of young music pioneers and organizes music activities such as its renowned international festival for contemporary music, the Gaudeamus Muziekweek Academy, concert sessions and diverse co-productions.

The Grachtenfestival is the stage par excellence for young musicians from all over the world. Each year this classical music festival in the Netherlands surprises visitors of all ages with unique concerts. By keenly combining location and repertoire, the performances meet the highest of standards while being accessible all the same.
