Since 2012, ud player Jawa Manla has lived in several cities: including Cairo, Istanbul and Amsterdam. This concert will tell you about her musical journey, starting and ending in Damascus. That is the city where she found her passion for her instrument: the ud. The city where her first teacher lives, who encouraged her to make music and enriched her with knowledge and love of music. In this concert Arabic, Turkish, Greek and jazz music and own compositions come together.
Each city has a different musical and cultural influence on Jawa's personality and perception of music. Traveling has broadened her musical horizons. It is an unimaginable feeling to be at a distance from your roots, your family and friends. That's why Jawa connects her musical ideas and compositions to a tree. The tree has its own origin, grows in different places, but will eventually return to where it was originally planted.
