The Daahoud Salim Quintet, founded in 2015, will perform the program Encuentros (meetings). A repertoire that is formed by songs that are written inspired by different encounters (personal, symbolic or spiritual). Songs that originated in different periods of the band, so that clear style differences can be heard, but still form one whole.
The Daahoud Salim Quintet played on some of the most important stages and festivals in Europe. In 2016 the Quintet released its debut album "La Llamada" (Blue Asteroid Records). Followed by a second album of the live performance during the 40th Getxo Jazz Festival. At the same edition of this festival, the band receives the "Prize for the best band" and "Best soloist" (Daahoud Salim). In 2017 the quintet wins the B-Jazz International Contest the "Grand Prix Albert Michiels Prize" for the best band and the "Sabam for Culture Prize". In 2018 the band releases the album "La Busqueda". The repertoire consists of compositions by Daahoud who uses a lot of inspiration and pieces from his father Abdu Salim, a jazz saxophonist and composer from Texas, who is a great source of inspiration for the band.
