Presenting a romantic programme with a French accent, the Longinuskwintet will start off today’s concert with a light piece by Ibert. Next is the famous ‘Le tombeau de Couperin’, a work dedicated to the French composer François Couperin, in which each part commemorates a different fallen soldier of the First World War. This will be followed by ‘La Cheminé du Roi René’, composed for the 1939 film Cavalcade d’amour. To close, the quintet will play a piece from Carmen.
