The combination of two different aspects of music has long captivated jazz musicians. Forged in the fire of the Southern Navarre Tradition and Jazz, saxophonist José Ángel Lorente has become one of the first contemporary interpreters in the fusion of both styles. In the summer of 2019, Jose Angel Lorente performed original compositions at the 43 ° Getxo International Festival in front of a crowd of thousands, the talent of his band was listed as one of the four promises of European jazz. Lorente performed these shows shortly after recording his first album, ́ ́Raices ́ ́ ́ (2018, Moskito Record). The album was released on Moskito Record label as a result of winning the ́ ́Impulso ́ ́ ́ award at the VII BBK JAzz Awards in November 2017. The Album was officially presented at the BBK Jazz Festival in Bilbao in November 2018 along with other great Spanish jazz musicians.

Lorente showed precocious talent at age 8 when his parents bought him his first saxophone and encouraged him as he began formal saxophone instruction. In 2008 Lorente won first place in the Fermín Gurbindo national classical performance competition. Lorente finished his classical music studies with merit at the Calahorra Conservatory of Music in 2012. In 2014, Lorente began his Bachelor's degree at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Navarra. In 2019 he moved to Maastricht, Holland where he began his master's degree at Zuyd University, in 2021 he wins the Jazz Maastricht Awards with the band "The farm project" June 2021 wins and Amsterdam the honorary prize at the Grachtenfestival, Graduated Cum Laude ( Master of music) in July 2021 ( Zuyd University of Applied Sciences). Today he has become one of the most promising jazz musicians in Navarra. With a fluid technique, he plays with the passion of a young artist who discovers his voice in jazz directly connected to his roots.
