Ambitions come to life at the Olympic Stadium Amsterdam The Olympic Stadium, icon of Dutch Olympic sports, is a place of inspiration for many. The place where ambitions come to life and where the Olympic Summer Games were held in 1928. The Games of '28 were special: the Olympic flame was lit for the first time, women were allowed to compete in athletics for the first time, Coca-Cola experienced its European introduction and the universal parking sign was invented for these Games. In 2000, the Olympic Stadium was festively reopened after a thorough renovation. Since its reopening, the Olympic Stadium has been working hard on an inspiring and challenging sport events, culture, education and museum activities.
