Bram Stadhouders' Suite X is a collection of eight original Baroque music tracks before for our time. The result of a jam session by Stadhouders with Nils Frahm, Arve Henriksen and a reincarnated J.S. Bach? No, it is the out-of-the-box thinkers of Baroque Orchestration X with whom he has entered into this unorthodox alliance. B.O.X is a Flemish baroque ensemble that mainly collaborates with acts from the indie-pop scene, such as recently with Dez Mona, Efterklang or Spinvis. A dream pact for the fusion of different musical worlds.
With Suite X Stadhouders pays homage to the soothing baroque sound, which he manages to mix with the sound of electric guitar and live electronics in a way that is as logical as it is surprising. At times as a soundscape, then in a catchy groove and last but not least, with lyrical melodies that immediately settle in the mind. A masterpiece in which past, present, electronic, acoustic and the art of improvisation from the rich baroque to jazz traditions flow together.
"A breathtaking result that establishes an immaculate connection between musical styles some four hundred years apart. "Suite X" deserves a sky-high listing in the Classical Top-1000 of 2221. And Beyond." (Jazznu).
