Higher-Life is a brand new band centered around drummer and artist Junya (Junior Appiah). In recent years he has played at the biggest festivals at home and abroad with artists like Rimon, Fullcrate, Akwasi, Yung Nelg and BnnyHunna. There he gained the necessary experience to now start his own project. During monthly jam sessions at the A'dam tower, the group had such a strong connection that they went from jam sessions in]
to rehearsal rooms. Like Junya, the music the band plays has strong Ghanaian roots.
High-life music originated in the 19th century and has influences from ancient rhythms and genres. The music is generally defined by jazzy brass and the two-finger plucking guitar style that is characteristic in many African music genres. In recent years, the highly danceable music has become more uptempo and synths play a more important role.
One thing is for sure, sitting still will not be possible at this concert. Prepare to party!
