Robbrecht van Cauwenberghe (bajan) and Coraline Groen (violin) present a special show with their special combination of instruments.
Based on their passion to search for extremes in music, Robbrecht and Coraline present a unique program in which the most diverse styles and periods sounds fit together simultaneously. They like to surprise the audience with the original sound combination of both instruments. For example, in the first movement of the Sonata by Polish composer Mikołaj Majkusiak, try closing your eyes and hear which instrument is playing. Is it the violin, or the bajan? Or listen during one of Martijn Padding's Opposite Pieces, called "Padding's Small Polka Swing" to the bickering between the two instruments that unexpectedly ends in a quasi unison repetition of the beginning after which a - according to Padding - "razor sharp" and over-the-top rock piece follows. Besides these original compositions for violin and bajan, Robbrecht and Coraline also play their own arrangements by tango composer Astor Piazzolla.
