It is always safe to assume that saxophonist Eva van Grinsven is one of the busiest musicians that the Netherlands is lucky enough to have. Van Grinsven plays with no fewer than five ensembles, including the Berlage Saxophone Quartet, for which she was nominated for the Grachtenfestival Prize this year (and won the Dutch Musical Talent Award), and the duo Sax & Stix, which won the Grachtenfestival Prize in 2012. Tonight, Van Grinsven will be playing with Michael Gieler, violinist with the Koninklijk Concertgebouw Orchestra and pianist Daniël Kramer. This is the very first musical gem of 2014! Lighting by Maarten Warmerdam and Floriaan Ganzevoort of De Theatermachine will provide an extra dimension to the evening. The Grachtenfestival will be treating everyone to mulled wine and a mug of hot chocolate.
This concert is also a part of 'Discover BERLAGE', a programme of celebrations to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Berlage’s Plan Zuid in Amsterdam Zuid.
