The Amatis Piano Trio consists of pianist Mengjie Han, violinist Lea Hausmann and cellist Samuel Shepherd. The young ensemble was a 2014 finalist of the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours, in which it won the public award. Since then, the passionate trio has won several national as well as international prizes and now it is nominated for the GrachtenfestivalPrijs 2016.
It has been their heartfelt wish to work together with the American viola player Jennifer Stumm. The internationally acclaimed musician is not only renowned for her outstanding play, she is also a passionate ambassador for the viola. With her speeches and performances she inspires a large audience.
At the centre of the programme is ‘Piano quartet in E flat major opus’ by Robert Schumann, composed in 1842. A masterpiece, loved by musicians as well as by the audience, as much today as it was 175 years ago.
In the Meesterlijk!-series, musicians are invited to play in unique combinations. Here, young musicians, among whom the nominees for the GrachtenfestivalPrijs, will perform with musical friends and seasoned masters of the trade. Four unique concerts on a magnificent venue: the Wintertuin of the Hotel Krasnapolsky. Truly masterly, or in Dutch: ‘Meesterlijk!’
